For 2010, all MCF Cyclocross events will follow a common, standard race schedule. This applies to all MCF CRY and Lazer Sport Cyclocross Super Series Events.
Race 1: 10:00AM - Women Cat 4, Junior Men, Junior Women - 30 minutes
Race 2: 10:45AM - Men Cat 4 - 30 minutes
Race 3: 11:30AM - Men Cat 3 - 45 minutes
Race 4: Kids Race 10&under - short loop
Race 5: Women Cat 1/2, Women Cat 3, Masters 45+ - 45 minutes
Race 6: Men Cat 1/2, Masters 35+ - 60 minutes
Both Junior Men and Junior Women will be scored separately for age groups 10-14 and 15-18. Women Cat 1/2/3 will race together, with Cat 1/2 scored separately from Cat 3.
Start order:
Race 1: Junior Men start first, Women Cat 4 and Junior Women start 1 minute later.
Race 5: Women Cat 1/2/3 start first, Masters 45+ 1 minute later.
All other races start all racers together.
In the case where promoters wish to include additonal categories (e.g. singlespeed), they should be included with the most appropriate field. Some exceptions may be made, with all exceptions cleared through the MCF Cyclocross Coordinator. Be sure to check each event flyer for any exceptions.
The intention behind this schedule is to group categories of similar ability in the same wave, while attempting to keep the field sizes managable at the larger events. The goal is to minimize the potential for safety issues due to lapping of riders, in order to reduce/eliminate the need for officials to pull lapped riders. This is supplemented by enforcement of the miminum course length of 2.5K (1.55mi). |
