Series Points and Awards

Some riders may have an option of riding in different CRY categories (e.g., a 36 year old, category 2 male may ride the category 1/2 or master 35+ race). These riders must specify at registration for each event which CRY category they will compete.

Final CRY standings will be based on a rider's top 5 results within their selected category. The first, second, and third place riders within each CRY category, for the series, will be recognized at the annual MCF awards party. Sponsors will provide prizes for the winners of each category.

The CRY competition is considered a series competition and all USA Cycling rules shall apply. If a tie occurs, the USAC rules for determining the winner will apply.

Placing within the CRY competition is based on the highest to lowest point totals.

No 'upgrade points' will be awarded to racers' new categories.

Events with combined fields will have points awarded based on the riders' placing against other riders of the same CRY category (i.e. In a 1/2/3 race, a Cat 3 rider who finishes 8th overall and is the first Cat 3 finisher will earn 20 CRY points).

Points within a CRY category are as follows and do not change based on field size:

1st – 20 2nd – 18 3rd – 16 4th – 14 5th – 12
6th – 10 7th – 9 8th – 8 9th – 7 10th – 6
11th – 5 12th – 4 13th – 3 14th – 2 15th – 1

Transponder Timing

All 7 CRY events are contracted with Endurance Promotions for computerized registration and results, including use of the AMB chip timing system. Use of chip timing assists race officials in the scoring of lapped riders, and facilitates quick on-site results.

The goal of the Minnesota Cycling Federation's Cyclocross Rider of the Year program is to provide an annual ranking system that will allow riders of all abilities to measure their performances and to monitor their progress. This guideline is intended to allow promoters adequate flexibility to operate within the constraints of their event. The MCF shall determine if an event complies with the intent of the guidelines, and then the event may be granted CRY status.
