Bike Nights Series Finale PDF Print E-mail

The first MCF Medal winners have been crowned for 2010! The 4th and final night of the Friday Night Indoor Bike Racing Series was held on Feb 26th at the National Sports Center Indoor Soccer Field. Promoted by Chris Smith and Tim Hayes, the final event of the series was the "Open Indoor Field Racing World Championships Race." In the thrilling finale a group of 5 strong racers broke away, Jay Hollywood Henderson drove the initial break, with Brandon Krawczyk, Chris Smith, Tim Mulrooney and Alex Mayer in tow.  The final lap came down to a sprint which  was taken by Alex Mayer, with Chris Smith 2nd and Tim Mulrooney 3rd.  Alex transferred to the Bianchi Grand Performance team in the off-season and has chalked up the first major win of the season, earning the coveted World Championship Jersey.  The races were divided into a "B" group and "A" group, which raced together for the finale.  The series was a welcome respite from indoor training or riding on the wintry roads and hopefully will be continued next year.  Many riders newer to the racing scene took advantage of the opportunity, I dare to say they have a head start on their competition for the 2010 season!
